WELCOME TO BALANCED MAMA

As a busy mama running the world, there aren’t any physical resources in the Sacramento area that cater to a physio and chiropractic blended technique. Pregnancy brings out existing structural imbalances in the body and exacerbates any pain in your musculoskeletal system. Functional care is for you, your little ones, and your whole family to get you out of pain and thriving.

Concierge treatment allows you to have one on one attention and access to Dr.Rutherford and our therapists any time in the comfort of your own home.

PLEASE NOTE WE HAVE RECENTLY EXPANDED TO CARING FOR PEDIATRIC AND NON PREGNANT PATIENTS AS PART OF OUR PATIENT FAMILIES.

Office appointments are available in Granite Bay at 8700 Auburn Folsom Road.

HELP CENTER

DO I NEED A DOCTOR’S REFERRAL?

No - Dr.Sarah is a primary care chiropractic physician and thus you do not need any referral to see her. Additionally, she can co-monitor and co-manage any condition you are already seeing your primary care doctor or OBGYN for. She will refer you to medical management if needed.

WHAT IS YOUR NEW PATIENT PROCEDURE?

After your initial consultation where your concerns and physical issues are addressed, an appointment time will be made. Dr.Sarah will show up with everything needed for your session, start by taking your vitals, and performing a physical examination to diagnose and rule out any other existing musculoskeletal problems. Once you are comfortable and ready treatment will begin.

I JUST GAVE BIRTH - WHEN CAN I START?

C section: 6 weeks postpartum is recommended at the earliest - your body and brain need time to readjust to all the changes and time to heal. Most women after a C section feel ready once their doctor has cleared them which coincides around the 6 week mark.
Vaginal delivery: 2 weeks minimum recommended. Due to all the fluctuating hormones, now is not the time to immediately stretch and put forces into the body. Give yourself some recovery with your little bundle of joy first and then we can begin.

WHAT AREAS ARE SERVICED FOR OUTCALL APPOINTMENTS?

The Sacramento, Roseville, and Folsom Area
For those requesting services outside of this area appointments are charged accordingly. Please note that Dr.Sarah does travel to the Bay Area certain months out of the year for patient treatment.

DO YOU TREAT NON PREGNANT WOMEN?

Dr.Sarah primarily focuses on prenatal and postpartum patients in addition to their families and children but also treats those who are not perinatal patients.
Our licensed massage therapists are also specialized in the perinatal period but do treat those who are not.

DR.SARAH RUTHERFORD, D.C.

My clinical skills and doctorate education combined with first hand experience allow me to understand and effectively treat mamas. So much attention goes toward the health of your baby during pregnancy and postpartum but very little care is given towards the mama. It is my passion and job to provide therapy and care to help you recover and dominate motherhood.

Common concerns I treat....

  • Neck, shoulder, and low back pain

  • Sciatica

  • C section recovery and scar tissue work (after 6 weeks)

  • Diastasis recti (non surgical cases)

  • Abdominal wall weakness (what many mamas refer to as the “pooch”)

  • Round ligament pain

  • Pregnancy aches and pains

  • Carpal tunnel and other nerve compressions common for pregnancy

  • Fitness and exercises that are safe during pregnancy and postpartum
